eweek.com: In a new report, Is Linux More Secure Than Windows? from Forrester Research Inc., based in Cambridge, Mass., Computing Infrastructures Senior Analyst Laura Koetzle finds that both Windows and Linux can be deployed securely. Although primarily a bug fix release, OpenOffice.org 1.1.1 does contain some new features, such as: the OOoDic Autopilot which allows a user to download automatically any one of 87 spelling, hyphenation and thesaurus dictionaries enhanced support for languages that use a comma instead of a point/full stop as the decimal point .. download

The wake of the controversial XFree86 license modifications that will premier in XFree86 4.4 is growing larger each day. It now appears that Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Mandrake Linux, Debian GNU/Linux, OpenBSD and Gentoo Linux will be sticking with XFree86 4.3 in their next respective releases. With such a large controversy surrounding the license, we decided to ask Free Software Foundation founder and president Richard M. Stallman about the issue..

"Something I've been promising for a couple of months has been a comparison of Linux kernels 2.6 and 2.4. The 2.6 series has been available for awhile now but the development has been going at a very rapid pace. It seemed everytime I'd be half-way through my benchmarks, a new version would be released. In a desire to stay as current as possible, I held off until now. We'll be taking a look at versions 2.6.4 and 2.4.25 in a variety of benchmarks; both server and workstation-oriented" to see the result click here
